The MT-4080A / MT4080D has a wide range of test frequencies up to 10kHz (MT-4080D) or 100kHz (MT-4080A), and many measurement parameters including Z, L, C, DCR, ESR, D, Q, and θ. The MT-4080 series is designed for both component evaluation on the production line and fundamental impedance testing for bench-top applications. With a built-in direct test fixture you can test leaded components very easily. The optional 4-wire test clip can give a convenient connection to larger components and assemblies with the accuracy of 4-wire testing. The RS232C (IrDA) interface can give an attractive, cost effective solution for logged quality assurance and incoming inspection operations, making the MT-4080 series the most advanced handheld L-C-R meters available on the market today.
	ESR measurement
	In switchmode power supply design, higher frequencies are used to take advantage of the size and output power barrier. The Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) of a capacitor is a key element determining efficiency and performance. With the MT-4080A or MT-4080D the user can quickly check the ESR of a capacitor up to 100kHz or 10kHz.
	IrDA communications port
	The infra-red port allows communication with a personal computer with compatible IrDA port.With Remote Control Command (RCC) support, both units are able to act as an automatic L-C-R testing system. The user is able to control the measurement settings and retrieve the measured values through the IrDA link.
	Open and short calibration
	Open and short calibrations are important proceedures before making any measurements, especially after the operator changes the testing frequency or level. Fast open and short calibrations are key factors in usability of a L-C-R meter. The MT-4080 series can perform open and short calibrations with-in 10 seconds.
	Transformer measurement
	To qualify xDSL transformers, you can measure the primary inductance or coupling capacitance at 10kHz, and leakage inductance at 100kHz with a lower test voltage. The operator can also measure the DC resistance of the primary and secondary with the standard DCR function.
	SMD test probe (option)
	Surface mount components are usually tiny, and have no component leads, making them difficult to test. The TL-08B SMD test probe gives operators an easy way to conduct SMD component testing. The uniquely designed SMD test probe can also be used to test conventional components if the wire leads are too short to insert into the test terminals
	Kelvin Clip test lead set (option)
	To maximise accuracy and ease of use on leaded components use TL-08C Kelvin Clip test lead sets. Simply plug the leads into the MT-4080A and attach the Kelvin Clips to the leads of the component under test.
	RS-232 to IrDA converter (option)
	If your PC does not have an in-built IrDA port, the MII-720 plugs into either com1 or com2 serial port (9 pin) and allows communication with a MT-4080 with IrDA support. No drivers or external power required. Simply plug into the serial port.
